Garlic Bread Cheese Toastie

Garlic Bread Grilled Cheese — aka the carb-on-carb masterpiece nobody warned you about.

It’s what happens when garlic bread and a grilled cheese fall wildly in love and decide subtlety is overrated. Crispy, buttery, golden edges on the outside… molten, stretchy, unapologetic cheese pull on the inside.

Comfort food just levelled up and put on a leather jacket

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons softened butter – the golden glue that makes everything crisp and glorious.

  • ½ tablespoon garlic powder – bold, punchy, and absolutely non-negotiable.

  • ½ teaspoon dried parsley – a little green speckle moment so we can pretend it’s balanced.

  • 4 slices of bread – white, sourdough, or your personal carb soulmate.

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella & cheddar blend – stretchy meets melty meets “why did I not make two?”

Simple ingredients. Maximum crunch. Elite cheese pull incoming.

Ohhh we’re going fresh? I respect it. 🧄✨

Optional Fresh Garlic Butter Upgrade
(Because sometimes powder just isn’t dramatic enough.)

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons softened butter – room temp, spreadable, ready to work.

  • 1 clove garlic, finely minced – tiny, tiny pieces so it melts into the butter, not chunks you have to negotiate with.

  • Pinch of salt – just enough to wake everything up.

  • ½ teaspoon chopped parsley – for that “I absolutely made this from scratch” energy.

Mix it all together until creamy and fragrant. It should smell like you’ve made an excellent life choice.

Method

Create the Garlic Butter Magic

In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with the garlic powder and parsley until it’s smooth, creamy, and smelling mildly life-changing. You’re looking for silky, spreadable, and speckled with green.

Give the Bread Its Glow-Up

Spread that garlic butter generously on one side of each slice of bread. And I mean generously. Take it right to the edges — no dry corners, no regrets. This is where the crunch begins.

 Build Like You Mean It

Lay 2 slices of bread butter-side down in front of you. Pile half the cheese onto each — don’t be shy, this is not the time for restraint. Crown them with the remaining slices, butter-side up. Congratulations, you’ve just engineered greatness.

Toast to Golden Glory

Heat a large skillet or nonstick pan over low heat. Low and steady wins the cheese pull. Place the sandwiches in and let them cook for 4–5 minutes per side until deeply golden, crispy, and audibly crunchy when you tap them. Flip carefully — we’re building luxury, not chaos.

Serve While the Cheese Is Still Showing Off

Remove from the pan, slice in halves or dramatic diagonals (always dramatic diagonals), and serve immediately.

Pair with tomato soup for the classic dunk, or your favourite dip if you’re feeling rebellious.

And there it is — garlic bread grilled cheese, unapologetically extra. 🧄🧀✨

Helpful tips

Cheese Swaps (aka Choose Your Melt Personality):
Swiss for that nutty, slightly fancy vibe.
Gouda for buttery smooth comfort.
Fontina if you want rich, melty elegance.
American if you’re chasing that ultra-gooey, unapologetic diner nostalgia.

Add Some Protein Power:
Crispy bacon? Elite.
Ham? Classic and dependable.
A fried egg? Now we’re talking brunch royalty — that runny yolk situation is next-level indulgence.

Turn Up the Heat:
A sprinkle of crushed red pepper for a subtle kick…
Or a swipe of spicy mayo if you’re in your “no such thing as too much flavour” era.

Basically, this sandwich is a blank canvas. Choose chaos. Choose comfort. Choose extra. 🧄🧀🔥
