Amaretto Afterglow Spritz

This is my softer, more indulgent take on the classic Italian-inspired spritz—where rich almond notes meet bright orange and crisp sparkling wine for a drink that feels equal parts elegant, playful, and effortlessly refreshing. Lightly sweet, beautifully bubbly, and made for golden afternoons, long lunches, and those moments worth lingering over.

Ingredients

With Alcohol-Free Spirits
  • 60 ml amaretto-style spirit or almond syrup for a softer alternative
  • 30 ml fresh orange juice
  • 90 ml dry sparkling wine
  • 30 ml soda water sparkling mineral water or tonic also works beautifully
  • 1 fresh cherry for garnish
  • 1 small sprig of thyme for garnish
  • 1–2 dashes alcohol-free aromatic bitters optional, for added depth

Equipment

  • Glassware A generously sized wine glass or rounded balloon glass works beautifully here, giving the bubbles room to rise and the aromatics space to open.
  • To Stir A long-handled bar spoon or elegant cocktail stirrer is perfect for gently bringing everything together without losing that lovely sparkle.

Method

  1. Pour the alcohol-free amaretto and fresh orange juice into your glass, stirring gently until the flavours are beautifully combined.
  2. Optional: If you’re adding aromatic bitters for a little extra depth, swirl them in at this stage.
  3. Fill the glass generously with ice, pour over the chilled sparkling wine, then top with soda water for that signature lively sparkle.
  4. Give everything a light, gentle stir, then finish with a fresh cherry and a sprig of thyme. Serve immediately—and enjoy every sparkling sip.
